나는 처음에 이 책을 읽을 때는 단지 학교 숙제 때문이었다. 하지만 나는 책을 다 읽었을 때 몰입해 있었다.

At first, I read this book only for homework. But when I finished reading this book, I’m immersed in this book.

 

린은 케이티에게 처음으로 '키라-키라'라는 가르쳐 준다. 키라-키라는 일본어로 “빛나는” 이라는 뜻이다. 린은 동생 케이티에게 하늘이 키라-키라 이고, 바다와 사람의 눈동자도 키라-키라 라고 늘 말한다.

Lynn taught “kira-kira”to the Katie. kira-kira means “glitter-ing”in Japanese. Lynn always say to Katie, “Sky is kira-kira and sea and eyes which people has is kira-kira.”

 

케이트와 린은 아버지가 영업하던 식료품점의 영업이 잘 안됐기 때문에 큰아버지가 사는 조지아로 이사를 가서 병아리 부화장에서 일하게 된다. 여기에는 일본인이 많지 않다. 그래서 차별이 심하다. 엄마 아빠가 모두 부화장에서 새벽부터 밤늦게 까지 일하는 동안, 언니 린은 동생 케이티를 돌보아 주고, 숙제도 봐 준다.

Katie father’s grocery is an unprofitable business. so We moved to my uncle lives in georgia and work at a chicken hatchery. Here are not many japanese. So severe discrimination. Parents are work to hatchery from dawn till night, Lynn care for katie and help for homework.

 

모범생인 언니 린의 꿈은 대학교에 꼭 들어가고, 캘리포니아 해변의 집에서 사는 것이었다. 동생 케이티에게는 너무도 자랑스러운 “천재” 언니다. 그런 언니가 Lymphoma (림프구에 생기는 암) 라는 병에 걸렸다.

Lynn is model student. Her dream is to entrance into a University and to live in house which is in california beach. she was her young sister kate’s proud genius. but, she got a lymphoma.

 

케이티는 죽은 린을 그리워하며 아무 상관없는 사람들을 원망하게 된다. 하지만 린을 위해 케이티는 열심히 공부를 한다. 케이티의 마음속에서 린을 정리하고 다시 새롭게 시작하기로 한다. 그리고 언제나 키라-키라가 있다는 것을 알게 된다.

miss lynn, katie hate people who are not relevant in her death, But, Katie is study hard for lynn. she tried to erase lynn in her mind in her mind and decided to start new life. she know, always kira-kira is remaining.

 

갑작스런 린의 죽음으로 슬퍼하는 케이티가 너무 불쌍하다. 하지만 꿋꿋이 이겨내고 새롭게 나아가는 케이티의 모습에 앞으로 좋은 일만 생겼으면 좋겠다.

lynn’s sudden death, and sorrowful katie is very pitiful. but katie decided to start new life. I want katie to be happy.
