8.3 The design of antagonists

8.3.1 Antagonists acting at the binding site

* There are several strategies in designing antagonists

1) antagonist perfectly fits and does not cause and change of shape: no biological activity and the binding site is blocked

2) to find different binding regions within the binding site that are not used by the natural chemical messenger: there may be other binding regions present than just those used by the natural messenger.
