Winter and Monk did a live interview on Twitch just now. Notes below:
Monk joined Blizzard soon after last year's BlizzCon
Characters, with regards to co-op, can be considered to be neither dead or alive, think Schrodinger's cat; going off on co-op being non-canon
All outlaws are bipedal ground units for uniformity and to make them look like a proper squad; air units and tanks/widow mines would look out of place
Tychus command card is highly unlikely to make it into multiplayer, largely because the system is contained; Tychus only uses 5 units which easily fits into the command card. Making it work for multiplayer, where there would be significantly more units to control, would require a major redesign
Ease of brutal difficulty is being looked at but nothing to announce
No timeline for leaderboards
"You are doing it wrong" mentality is a challenge for making leaderboards work
Tentatively, only the top 200 are visibly ranked for leaderboards. This could change later on.
No plans to make custom maps a thing, partly due to the possibility of someone making a map that could be won extremely quickly, trivializing the ascension progression. Another problem is that co-op maps take a ton of work to get right and need to be of a certain quality to even make the map pool.
They are still open to player created maps; if you think you have a good concept or even a demo map, post about it on the forums.
They do read and get feedback from the in-game co-op chat in spite of the politics, religion, trolling and other glorious topics
